Happy Heart Day

These are from last week end, but seem appropriate for today. We baked some yummy double chocolate chip cookies and made real hot chocolate with Aldi bought heart marshmallows, while we finished Roy's valentines for school.

Also, related to Valentines Day, Pastor preached on the ultimate agape love that Christ shows us on a daily basis. It's incredible that he would love such an imperfect, constantly failing human being enough to sacrifice himself for me. And it goes beyond me. Scripture commands that we love the way Christ loved. It seems so difficult to the love the people in our lives that seemingly don't deserve it, but that's exactly what Christ did for us. So now the challenge is to love the people in my live they way Christ loved me.

Got Possession!

Closed on the house today and as a bonus they left us the piano. Look at those windows! Can't wait to move in!

Weekend Project

Maternity leave is almost over and I need to finish Henry's room or it won't get done. I really don't want to spend a lot of money in kids art because it seems like they grow out of it too quickly, so Roy helped me cut up a bunch of paint samples. And here's what we came up with:

First Haircut

My little Roy got his first haircut today. Yes, he's almost 2 1/2. I really thought our children would have thick, long, dark hair, but as it turns out Roy has wispy, thin, blonde hair. It is cute and curly when it's wet. Otherwise it's just a matted mess and so I decided it was time.

Roy Boy - 11 months

Little Roy is growing, growing, growing! He took his first steps last weekend! Of course, I wasn't there to see it. Jacob had been out of town all week and the minute I left he decided to walk (with three steps) to his train. I'm hoping he catches on soon; those poor knees and hands are starting to get calluses. With the weather slowing getting colder I'm so thankful we decided to put headed floors under the tile in the kitchen - it was the least we could do for our drafty old house! Roy is also starting to sign with his hands. He doesn't have it quite figured out, but he's at least trying to copy us. The Holidays are going to be especially fun this year...

May I introduce...my very own Harry Potter and Hedwig

I finally finished Roy's custom - just in time for his cousin's dress-up birthday party! The best part is that I only spent $1 (on the socks). Roy got the hat before he was born from a friend, borrows the tights from his 'girl-friend' and I had a bunch of left over felt from a previous project. I love projects like this! AND, I'm so happy with how it turned out. (OH, and Harry Potter was an afterthought, but easily accomplished - eye liner and striped cardigan)

Happy Halloween!

News-worthly Pumpkin

Instead of the same ole pumkin carving, I decided to try something new this year. All you need is Mod Podge and newspaper. Made for perfect Fall family photos:

Handsome Pumpkins - don't you think?

Wedding/Date Night

Jacob was in Danny and Katy's Wedding on Saturday, so I got to get all dressed up and go out for some fun. My legs hurt from dancing and I'm not even a good dancer.

And Roy got to stay home with his Grandma Klapperich and play with his toys. Everybody wins!

Carrots

Roy loves carrots, so I make it a point to have carrots in my freezer at all times.

Roy Boy - 8 months

Roy learned how to clap and say 'dadda' since my last post. He doesn't really know who dadda is, but he lights up when Jacob or I walk in the room. Our little crawler has also been very busy exploring the last few weeks. We are currently working on not crawling up the stairs and not touching the tv. Roy also loves music. I've caugh Jacob playing his harmonica while he's feeding him to keep his attention and he's facinated with our guitar so much that he'll climb on top of the guitar case when it's put away. (By the way, the sofa in the pictures is one my favorite pieces of furniture I have ever owned! I had to sell it to make room for UrbanPosture stuff. Leslie moved to Brooklyn last month and I've been busy trying to find a place for everything.)

Roy Boy - 7 months

Roy is on the verge of crawling now, but can pretty much tumble around and get to anything he really wants; though he seems very attached most of the time and has started to reach for Daddy and Mommy when he's sad or upset. I also made my first two batches of baby food: peas and carrots. He's been eating rice cereal and oatmeal like a big boy, so it's time for 'real' food. The most exciting news is that he is sleeping through the night (for the most part). It's been a tough couple of months, but I think Roy Boy has finally figured it out. I love waking up to him talking in his crib. Usually, I peak into his room and gasp, so he turns his head. When he realizes that I'm coming to get him he gives me the biggest smile and starts to kick and squirm. I love being his Mommy!

Roys weekend in Michigan

Roy got to see his mean ole uncle justi and uncle Joel and auntie Shari too.

Then we drove for 10 hours and got to suprise Grandpa Wolfgang for his 60th Birthday - he was doing yard work!

He had baby duckies for Roy to pet..

..and touch...

...and giggle at.

Then Roy went to his first Tiger's game and they won!!

Roy Boy - 4 months

Roy is growing like crazy these days! It's so fun to see him figure things out. He found his toes two weeks ago and is trying to hold his bottle by himself. He's rolled over a few times, but can't figure out how to do it consistantely and he talkes ALL the time. Here he is making Monster Cookies with me:

Moving on...

Roy has been sleeping in his big boy crib for at least two months now, but I haven't had the time or desire to take down his bassinet. It's hard to think of how fast he's growing up and that he's no longer a new born. I took this picture to help me remember the sleepless nights in a little bit more positive light. I miss my tiny little cuddle bug!
